About

About Croma

A free, browser-based creative suite built on a simple belief: your creative work belongs to you, and only you.

What Croma Is

Croma is a collection of professional creative tools that run entirely in your browser. No accounts to create. No subscriptions to manage. No cloud uploads. You open the app, do your work, and save to your own device. That is the entire workflow.

Every tool in the suite is built with vanilla HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. There is no backend, no database, no server processing your files. When you close the tab, nothing remains on our end because nothing was ever sent.

The Apps

Why We Built This

Creative software has a problem. Most tools require accounts, store your work on someone else's server, and charge monthly fees for access to your own files. If the company shuts down, your work is at risk. If your subscription lapses, you lose access. If their servers get breached, your unpublished manuscript or unreleased artwork is exposed.

We think that is backwards. Your creative output is personal, often sensitive, and always yours. The tools you use should respect that. So we built Croma to prove that professional creative software can exist without any of those compromises.

Our Principles

Privacy by Architecture

We do not collect data because there is nothing to collect. No server receives your files. This is not a policy choice, it is a technical one.

Free, Actually

No tiers, no premium features behind a paywall, no "free with limitations." Every feature is available to every user. Always.

Own Your Files

Your work is stored on your device in standard or open formats. You can move, copy, back up, or delete your files at any time. No lock-in.

No Account Required

No email address, no password, no profile. Open the app and start creating. Identity should never be a prerequisite for creativity.

Technology

Croma apps are built with modern web standards. They use the File System Access API for native-feeling save and open dialogs. IndexedDB handles autosave so you never lose work during a session. CSS and the DOM power the interface, not a heavy framework.

This approach means Croma works best in Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc). Safari and Firefox are supported with minor limitations around file system access.

There is no build step, no bundler, no compile time. The source code is the shipping code. This keeps things simple, auditable, and fast.

What Comes Next

Croma is an evolving suite. New tools and new capabilities are always in development. The commitment stays the same: free, private, local-first, and built for people who take their creative work seriously.
